BARNET BAND

With a dynamic conductor and an ever-increasing number of members, Barnet Band is a very exciting place to be right now. Rehearsals are exhilarating and challenging, but also social occasions. No rehearsal is complete without its tea break.

Barnet Band’s conductor is Matt Smith, flautist, composer and teacher. As well as thoughtful musical direction, he brings enormous energy to the Band, and endless good humour and patience.

A busy summer programme of concerts includes appearances at the RAF Museum in Hendon, at Finchley Nurseries in Mill Hill and in various bandstands. We returned to the Barnet Festival with an open rehearsal in the garden of the Black Horse pub.

One of the highlights of the year is the Band’s ‘social’ evening when musical entertainment is provided by the band members themselves, playing in small ensembles.

If you’re interested in joining us you’re welcome to come along and try us out for a few weeks. There’s no audition and we don’t ask for grades.
