About Barnet Band

Barnet Band is a not-for-profit organisation run by its members. As a community wind band, we accept new members without audition and we don’t ask for grades.

During the summer, we play at fetes, community events and bandstands, and during the year give local Proms and Christmas concerts for charities.  Over the years we have been privileged to help many worthy causes.

Our conductor is Ian Brookman - as well as thoughtful musical direction, he brings enormous energy to the band, and endless good humour and patience. With Ian  coducting and an ever-increasing number of members, Barnet Band is a very exciting place to be right now. Rehearsals are exhilarating and challenging, but also social occasions.

In 2022, our busy programme included a sell-out concert of music from stage and screen, appearances at Finchley Nurseries in Mill Hill, the RAF museum in Hendon, a fair in Hampstead Garden Suburb and the Regent's Park bandstand. We concluded the year with both a Christmas charity concert supporting Homeless in Barnet and playing for a carol service at St James Church. Keep a lookout on our events page for details of our 2023 appearances.
