Roger was born in North London and started playing the clarinet at the
age of 11, he went on to gain his Licentiate Teachers Diploma at Trinity
College of Music ten years later.
Roger has played in various orchestras and concert bands over the years
including the Insurance Orchestra, Haringey Symphony Orchestra,
Tottenham Concert Band, Harrow Concert Band, and the BBC Elstree Concert Band until 2006. He held the post of Associate Conductor with the BBC Elstree Concert Band until 2006. Roger was also a member of the Ionian Clarinet Choir from 1974 and the Musical Director from 1992 until 2007.
Roger joined The Barnet Band on clarinet in 2007 but has conducted the
band several times in recent years, as part of the Band's summer
engagement programme. He was invited to become deputy conductor when he joined the Band last year and has now taken on the role of conductor, since the departure of our previous conductor James Wolfe after the summer season 2007.
